A very crowded weekend! The facilities reflected this. This site is a favorite with our kids and close to home, so a good site to perform a shake down cruise for the camper and crew. The staff is wonderful from check-in to check-out (don't be tardy on check out though $$). Also a good site to camp due to its proximity to Skyline drive, civil war sites, etc. Hooray for Luray!
We picked this site due to its proximity to several historical landmarks and we were not disappointed. The campground becomes quite busy after 4 PM so get there early. This park is a short haul for the DC metro area. The sites are not gravel or paved so when it rains it gets muddy. Overall a good site on the fringe of Washington DC.
It has been a while since we camped here, but not far from I-81, the road in was a bit tricky, but once we got there we found a very quiet park with small but nice facilities.
